The Cream Desktop Environment is a project working on a new GTK+-based Desktop Environment providing users a working environment following the KISS principle. Your desktop shell should stay out of your way and support you in accomplishing your everyday tasks. But unlike several other great projects, the Cream Desktop Environment also focusses on a modern graphics design and a rich user experience based on latest technologies.

Therefore it is one of our primary goals to provide a simple framework supporting you in writing your own applications and utilities perfectly integrated in your desktop. Our libraries help you to avoid boilerplate code and just get to implement your dreams.

You might ask "Why just another desktop environment?" - especially when new desktop shells like GNOME Shell or Unity pop up everywhere. We think, that this question is a really good one. But we believe in diversity: The more options you have, the higher is the chance that you might find your perfect desktop.
